My neighbor’s child was 5 when he moved in and became friends with our child. He grew up going on vacations with us and holidays. We loved him. Then he came out. His family blamed us because supposedly we made him gay. We never saw him much after that. Broke my heart.

I suspect that he knew from that tender age that your home was a safe place, that he was simply accepted for who he was. Very young children have very good instincts.

In reality it doesn't, however bad actors have long known they can exploit vulnerable minorities to gain power by riling up the unwashed masses. No different than the Nazis rising to power by demonizing the Jewish population, and we know how that ended.

Just being those things isn't, it's when it intersects with children is where the issues start. The vast, vast majority of people are not LGBT, and parents are worried that their children may be wrongly influenced into believing they might be when they are not. I myself was convinced I was ace

I think lots of people, especially in the past, see their children as property. These children are berated, threatened, and beaten into conforming. As adults (or older kids) who went through this, when they see people not conforming, it is upsetting & confusing. "Why do they get to be different?!"

This reminds me of a roleplay one of my college classes did. I played a very supportive parent. Another guy played a guy who thought letting a kid learn basic math was enough for being an accountant. I told them I'd help take care of their kid as they were learning too. It's sad that support is seen

IMO This would work better if it said trans instead of gay. Personally I don't know a lot of conservatives who are still explicitly anti-gay, not that I'm trying to minimize LGB struggles.

Parents who reject their LGBTQ children should lose their title as "parents." I'll never understand it.
Being gay/trans is not a choice and it doesn't change who a person is. However, parental alienation for sexual orientation or gender identity causes kids to spiral. PTSD for life.

One of my kids' friends came out to his parents, my daughter was there for support. The father turned violent &kicked her. We picked her up, later returning to get him. He lived w/us for about 6 months. Can't understand why parents do that to their kids. I get a Mothers Day text every year.

Idgaf if it IS a choice (it isn’t, btw). If you reject your child over who they want to love or how they want to identify, you aren’t a parent, you’re a source of genotype material.

The trans part is technically a choice. Gender dysphoria isn't though however that doesn't make someone trans.
Honestly if my son wants to be my daughter idgaf. It's their life, not mine. He'll already get to pick his own clothes/hair. I'm not questioning it if he starts grabbing dresses. Itd- 1/3

The intention is that when they push the kid away, the kid falls down and gets bruised, realizes the wrong of their ways and comes back. The ally catching them is ruining the parents’ scheme.

As a father it is my duty to protect and accept my child. Nomatter what. If your child says they are gay that should be a celebration that they even had the courage to speak it out loud in these times. Parents love your kids. No person should be shamed for that.

Odd thing is ... of all my gay and trans friends and people I've known in my 71 years most of their families were like "Yeah ... we know. Gimme a hug". And unfortunately a few were not as understanding. (Disclosure, I'm cis. It doesn't matter).
