In my entire life, I have never heard anyone explain why it's a problem to be gay transgender or anything else. How do these things affect anyone?

I think lots of people, especially in the past, see their children as property. These children are berated, threatened, and beaten into conforming. As adults (or older kids) who went through this, when they see people not conforming, it is upsetting & confusing. "Why do they get to be different?!"

My parents *knew people* that thing was done to. It's literally not terribly long ago it was acceptable to mistreat your children. (And certain parental groups want to bring it back under the guise of "it's just spankings".)

Some years up JKR wrote up this manifesto about her anti-trans position and I read it. It amounted to "I was in an abusive marriage once, therefore trans women don't really exist." through a series of utterly bizarre logical loops.

It’s from the part of the book that, if you bring up other sins that we regularly accept are featured, people say doesn’t count anymore. Only the gay stuff counts for some reason.

It originally didn't say "gay is evil," it said "pedophilia is evil."

Just being those things isn't, it's when it intersects with children is where the issues start. The vast, vast majority of people are not LGBT, and parents are worried that their children may be wrongly influenced into believing they might be when they are not. I myself was convinced I was ace

in high school but I was actually just seriously depressed and didn't understand that I just had a low testosterone medical issue. I ended up trying to hang myself with a plastic chain but my fat ass broke it. Anyway point is that young minds are extremely easily influenced and persuaded.

In reality it doesn't, however bad actors have long known they can exploit vulnerable minorities to gain power by riling up the unwashed masses. No different than the Nazis rising to power by demonizing the Jewish population, and we know how that ended.
