Yeaaah - IMO play-to-earn ended up being especially gross because it created new sweatshops in developing countries, and the examples I saw were all Ponzi schemes with no real gameplay or value beyond people speculating on in-game NFTs and waiting for new suckers to insert wealth into the game.

The more the big tech insist that LLM-flavored AI is inevitable and never going away, and the more they try to cram it down our throats by including it in every product, the less inevitable it looks.

So I kinda look at someone saying “I won’t get used to it” and think “that must be a nice luxury…”

I’m being forced to, if I want employment

Yes, quitting the rapidly enshittifying tech industry has been a consideration. I didn’t join it to do shit like this, as an industry … not much good is left

There's been so many inevitable things that we have had to adapt these last 5-10 years. Most of them forgotten, too.

These days, I feel like a cow watching tech trains move forward: they just keep passing, and my life feels better than the people on these trains, while I sit in a field on the side.

I was growing up during peek NSYNC/Backstreet Boys wars. I know how to hold a grudge.

I have many grudges from the 1990s. They are to be savored and decanted slowly, like a fine wine.

You idiots have no idea how long I can hold a grudge. I'm still mad about "The Cloud"

It's so funny how they'll always say 'if you don't use it then you will 100% vanish, fail and die!' Or something to that effect but never elaborate exactly how or why I would use it when I can draw and have a workflow already and that it just isn't fun to use the plagiarism generator.

Like I draw because the process of making it come together and gradually seeing myself improve is actually fun.

"you have to get used to it"
My mom told me that when i was 7 about meatloaf.

I have not touched meatloaf in over 20 years. Your GenAI is no different to me than that sour-tasting meat.

Behold, the hills i will die on.
Make your peace, i shall not be moved.

It feels like I have dodged a great many bullets switching to Linux all those years ago... I seem to be having an easier time opting out of AI than most.

While I can see that it has its uses in medicine and other sciences, the fact that it's used to plagiarise art, music, and literature really grips my shit.

I want tech to do my chores so that I can do fun stuff. Not the other way around.

I still deal with people who haven’t mastered the phone. I don’t mean the cellphone. I mean the phone. If they can last this long without understanding the technology of phones, surely I can resist AI until I die. 💕

80s gas chugger the belches smoke as a feature that still operates without flaw so long as you give it some TLC every other week
vs.
Three times the pollution just to manufacture an 'eco friendly' car thats designed to kill itself in time for the next model.

People have had LED headlights for a good few years now and I still call them pricks when they drive behind me at night. Do not underestimate me

Ur so real for that. Also double screw them if they got those blue lights at the corners. That shit ugly as hell and it hurts my eyes.

That issue is more that most headlights aren't aligned correct and LEDs are the standard in new cars which means nobody's going to go out and buy new lights unless they break.

I hate those damn things. If the LED module fails, the entire ballast has to be replaced. $1000+ each. My car is now 12 years old and has halogen bulbs. If one burns out, I simply get the Sylvania 9000 series replacement. The swap out takes less than 10 minutes in the parking lot. I’m old school.

It's not the LED light that's the problem. The problem is that so many people are driving SUVs and trucks, and the LED is 4 feet off the ground as a result.

If I could get a mirror that only reflects LED light wavelengths I would in a second.

properly designed led headlights are fine. led headlight bulb replacements, on the other hand... those can burn.

My eyes: *quickly and subconsciously discerning speed using the distance between two headlights as they approach*

Car companies: How about one continuous headlight bar?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE i flash the shit out of these oncoming “low beam” (lol) leds all the time. It’s not my fault your headlights are wrong!

I got a new car with LED lights and they are so fucking stupid. I hate them and wish I could get them removed. Fun fact: they only work on "auto" mod and love to randomly turn on the brights!!! 🫠 I hate it here. Not saying this bc I dont want to be called a prick, just fun facts to hate with.

Fuckers with LED headlights should get their headlights broken.

And the thing is, they can make headlights out of LEDs without making them eye-disastrous high beams. They just think that because SOME drivers want uber-beams, that's what they should make.

they need to dim them on city streets and then they can be bright on roads in the middle of nowhere

I will NEVER not be mad about them because I have an astigmatism and I legit can't see at all because of them. I'd see better with no one having them on than I do with them on.

My hate can be reduced if they start making them less blinding though
