Yeaaah - IMO play-to-earn ended up being especially gross because it created new sweatshops in developing countries, and the examples I saw were all Ponzi schemes with no real gameplay or value beyond people speculating on in-game NFTs and waiting for new suckers to insert wealth into the game.

AI is more similar to the dot com bubble tbh.

this is a problem of definition. "AI" in this case means "generative AI in video game development", and that is by no means guaranteed. if we were talking about neural networks in general, of course that's a different story. this could end up being culturally seen like using plagiarism to make games
