People have had LED headlights for a good few years now and I still call them pricks when they drive behind me at night. Do not underestimate me

I will NEVER not be mad about them because I have an astigmatism and I legit can't see at all because of them. I'd see better with no one having them on than I do with them on.

My hate can be reduced if they start making them less blinding though

they need to dim them on city streets and then they can be bright on roads in the middle of nowhere

They don’t even work well in the woods! There’s a line of darkness beyond a few hundred feet and not enough spill to the sides to illuminate animals that might cross. You have to drive with your high beams on the whole time. They are shit engineering for all applications except a closed rally track.

And the thing is, they can make headlights out of LEDs without making them eye-disastrous high beams. They just think that because SOME drivers want uber-beams, that's what they should make.

Fuckers with LED headlights should get their headlights broken.

I got a new car with LED lights and they are so fucking stupid. I hate them and wish I could get them removed. Fun fact: they only work on "auto" mod and love to randomly turn on the brights!!! 🫠 I hate it here. Not saying this bc I dont want to be called a prick, just fun facts to hate with.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE i flash the shit out of these oncoming “low beam” (lol) leds all the time. It’s not my fault your headlights are wrong!

Yep I’m still flashing my brights at assholes who blind me coming the other way. Not your high beams? Well then fix your car so your low beams aren’t a fucking hazard.

My eyes: *quickly and subconsciously discerning speed using the distance between two headlights as they approach*

Car companies: How about one continuous headlight bar?

properly designed led headlights are fine. led headlight bulb replacements, on the other hand... those can burn.

No they are not fine. They are focussed to a line which, in a lab is fine, but in the reality of roads with bumps and hills mean they are repeatedly “flashing” every oncoming driver whose eyes are near the line. They also do not spill enough light for distance illumination without hi beams being on.

If I could get a mirror that only reflects LED light wavelengths I would in a second.

It's not the LED light that's the problem. The problem is that so many people are driving SUVs and trucks, and the LED is 4 feet off the ground as a result.

They also suck on sports cars

Orrrr both of those things suck!

It is also the LEDs

No, the problem is that the vast majority of such things are shitty PWMs that flicker to hell, and don't have properly sharp low beam cutoff lines so that they are effectively *always* high beams.

There's a reason so many are labeled "for off road use only" on packaging, but people use them anyway.

It’s both.

No the LEDS still are a problem. I have issues seeing at all no matter what car has them.

Big SUVs and trucks are still an issue but for so many other reasons than just the headlight height. I hate them too

It's both. Cars being larger makes the problem way worse, but oncoming traffic in the other lane (esp. many at once) with super bright LEDs makes it impossible to see a thing over the glare, regardless of height.

I try my best to drive as little as possible at night specifically because of this

I hate those damn things. If the LED module fails, the entire ballast has to be replaced. $1000+ each. My car is now 12 years old and has halogen bulbs. If one burns out, I simply get the Sylvania 9000 series replacement. The swap out takes less than 10 minutes in the parking lot. I’m old school.

truly a curse

That issue is more that most headlights aren't aligned correct and LEDs are the standard in new cars which means nobody's going to go out and buy new lights unless they break.

Ur so real for that. Also double screw them if they got those blue lights at the corners. That shit ugly as hell and it hurts my eyes.

Also, who the heck decided car headlights should have angry eyebrows?

I looked up why they're doing this and they just said "to make the car look more aggressive." What in the world?? Cars are deadly weapons. We don't need to be AGGRESSIVE with them; we need to be calm.
