Today in 1977 began the 504 sit-ins by disabled people. The protest was the longest occupation of a federal building and a reminder that our human rights and access protections were not gifts from the ableds, but fought for by us, and in this instance with a big assist from the Black Panther party.

Thread. I'm begging people to realize how much we've already given in just the past 25 years. I'm old enough to remember when surveillance wasn't ubiquitous and before ICE or the TSA existed. There was even a time when the average cop wasn't kitted out for full on urban warfare.

These are valuable facilities they’ll be guarding, and I certainly hope they’ve fixed the problem of using a wifi jammer to kill their cameras’ connection to the security feeds, one person flipping it with a pole and another then pulling up and back on the battery handle on the now exposed belly.
