This does seem like the shonkiest phase. On the other hand, the crew are all safe inside in their seats, and if a bunch of well-trained divers have to work a bit harder for a bit longer, well - that's their jobs. Once the thing is assembled, then it should be easy.

One thing I find interesting is that despite seemingly the ENTIRE INDUSTRY trying to kill VR and make it seem as uncool as possible... VRChat has grown almost every month for almost eight years now and is among the top 25 most played things on Steam.

Niche? Perhaps, but a big & hungry one.

The pictures from Artemis are apparently coming from the same camera I use for my race car - a GoPro Hero 4. I've been meaning to replace it for a while - it's over a decade old. But you know what... why? It works fine! Fun that it's also space-rated.

I just realised - in Star Trek Academy there was no mention of holodecks. Good. I wonder if having sentient holograms exist made them either illegal, immoral or simply very poor taste? That would be lovely. Terrible plot points.

@philsalv.bsky.social weird question: the other day I remembered that in London at the millennium dome in the year 2000 you could get full body scanned and download a model that could be loaded into the sims, unreal tournament and a few other games. Have you ever come across this or any records?
