I'm that YouTuber who taught you how dishwashers work. Guess I'm tryin' out the whole Bluesky thing now.

Re: moral panics

Some people are sensitive to things like unnecessary waste. They might be kind of bothered by the trajectory of certain things more than you are excited about it.

I was commenting on why the discourse is what it is.

But it's so bad now that it's not worth keeping those posts up.

Honestly, the great crisis of our society is the unwillingness of institutions to inflict consequences.

Impeach the president, fire the sex pests, expel cheating students, excommunicate an unrepentant heretic, prosecute the war criminals.

Believe in your institution enough to enforce its rules.

I said media organizations because I'm still ticked off at certain newspapers omitting certain things but this also applies to politicians.

I truly do not think it's that difficult to anticipate how Bluesky will react to milquetoastiness and yet my milk keeps getting toast in it.

The only thing you're ever going to get scolded for over here, barring the fringe folks of course, is writing articles and headlines which suggest our reality is something different than it is.

We just want you to stop coddling people. Because your insistence on doing that is why we're here

Note to whoever:

If you're a big media organization, you actually should have the thought going through your head which is "what will those weirdos on bluesky think this looks like?"

But what might not be obvious yet is we just want things to look like what they are. It's easy, actually!

One truly can only conclude this is because they like Trump and want him to rule us like a king

People on here rightly are pissed by the way Democratic politicians post as if they are witnesses to what's happening instead of ACTORS in what's happening. It's absolutely pathetic and weak.

We can do this with a lot of things for a variety of reasons. We should.

The AI bubble is probably gonna burst faster than it would have and it’s because people by and large demonstrated the easiest & most effective form of collective action (as compared to amount of personal effort & risk) one can do within a consumer driven society. We rejected it. We did not buy.
