We've implemented:
- all basic Covid protocols used during the pandemic (vaccines, masks, etc)

You might want to look up info from wild bird rescue & rehab groups in your area. If you're feeding birds you likely want to keep birds alive & feeders and baths are a huge disease transmission point for them. You should be able to find good info on how to keep things safer & on suspected outbreaks

I would just try to minimize your dog’s exposure as best as possible, especially if they have the tendency to try to put everything in their mouth when you’re on a walk. Some people even use the basket muzzles just to help with this. I’m sorry that’s such an issue at your complex. :c

Canned wet food that's not labeled raw is fine. I am only answering this since a lot of people were confused if wet food is raw.

Freeze dry preserves viruses and doesn't kill them. I believe the brand recalled after a cat died was freeze dried raw

Talk to your vet. Anything labeled raw is dangerous for cats.

Hopefully they can recommend some other food.

Is there anything we can do about cats who are also avid mousers? All our cats are indoor cats but about twice a year we find an organ or head on the floor and I don't think I'm capable of preventing the mice from making poor life choices. They're up to date on their shots. The cats not the mice.

I've been worried about the same thing. My cat is strictly indoors but last year was a boom year for mice and she caught like 5 of them before we even knew we had mice in the house. I'm doing everything else I can to keep her safe and am worried still.

We have strictly indoor cats, but 2 dogs that go potty outside. Been wiping their paws when they come in. Anything else we should be doing with canine family to avoid them tracking in crud to the cats? Or is that not as much of a concern vector wise?

i wanna add, no shoes inside the house and disinfect the soles with antiviral cleaner every time you come in from outside + store them away from pets! bird droppings carry the virus. don't let pets drink from puddles/bodies of water with bird presence. dropping are in water as well.

Been seeing an uptick in ill cats lately at my practice, particularly with indoor/outdoor cats, outdoor only cats, or cats being fed raw diets.

Avian flu is considered to be world wide. And it would be those that are outdoors since it has to come from exposure from wild birds, all that’s listed in the thread, etc. also, as long as it is cooked and not raw you’re fine!
