I love it when space museums have exhibits that let you walk through spacecraft. E.g. the backup Skylab to the National Air and Space Museum or the Space Shuttle replica Explorer which I saw at Kennedy Space Center.
As long as we can keep manufacturing both lithium iron phosphate batteries and photovoltaics at or below *current prices*, we have essentially set a ceiling on the price of electricity *forever*.
There is no such ceiling on the price of petroleum.
It becomes even more clear that when the current admin. is planning how to sell their policy, they don't ever have anyone play devil's advocate and point out flaws and inconsistencies in their arguments. Even the more "experienced" politicians in the cabinet are failing this basic test. #USpolitics
I'm not sure how to grade most foreign policy, since it's mostly about signing and enforcing treaties. Maybe maximizing the weighted average Human Freedom Index?
Then every quarter, they'll get a report card on just those objective measures. Yes they can add spin (these are a result of something Congress did, not the President; or there was a pandemic that disrupted the global economy) but there is only so much spin you can put on a number
I kind of wish that every president gets to choose (before the election) a set of objective metrics that they plan on maximizing or minimizing. E.g. Home ownership percentage or median real income or employment -population ratio or percentage with basic health insurance or food inflation rate.
pizzagate and qanon were not onto something, they were orchestrated by pedophiles to make accusing people of pedophilia make you look insane so that they could continue doing pedophile shit. fucking christ
One small thing I hope comes out of this nightmare is at least renaming the Department of Homeland Security. โHomelandโ is not a word Americans use. It sounds like a translation from Heimatsicherheitsabteilung.
Noโit's even worse than this. And I'll tell you why.
Trump knows that if he invades Greenland, no future Democratic president would do anything but give it back. He can't allow that. Which means invading Greenland is also him deciding that there'll *be* no future Democratic presidents.
Can Congress just weigh in once and for all: do US citizens need to carry proof of citizenship with them at all times? Pass a law saying it is legal to walk down the street with no ID, or pass a law saying ID is required. Let's get some damn clarity here.
I know it's wrong and it will probably fail at some point, but I need a quick and dirty fix. I even know what the right answer is, but it would take a few extra minutes.
I keep hinting to my boss that he should issue me a second computer running #Linux so I can more easily make sure my software compiles on both platforms.
Buying a company by taking out a massive loan, then making the company you bought responsible for paying off that loan, is so patently evil that it should be beyond illegal. The kind of thing that inspires enlightened societies without corporal punishment to bring back the death penalty as a one-off
