Yeah, it really wasn't a good sign that folks idolized an asshole who didn't give a single damn about the lives of his neighbors.

Some people are so angry and so falsely-aggrieved that they don't have any business living in civilization.

The gene pool needs more chlorine or lifeguards.

I live in Ohio but my mother came from Alabama. My great-grandfather fought on the side of the Confederacy, but just because I had ancestors that owned slaves and fought to keep them does not mean I believe it’s right. Unfortunately, many white supremacists still do, even in the 21st century.

Slavery was only part of the issue. The main issue was the states right to secede from the Union, for whatever reason. Substitute abortion for slavery and ask yourself if the US military should invade states that allow that.

People ragging on Killdozer guy need to understand that Colorado mountain folk are just a slightly wealthier version of Appalachian guy using Viet Cong style booby traps to guard his moonshine still/Oxy stash.

But this is a Virginia license plate. Soooo... No relation to Colorado here other than the sticker.

Jujitsu (in concept anyway) tries to use an opponent’s energy and force against them. I always thought that approach would do well in politics or political commentary. Seems like someone out there agrees with me.

alt text because I forgot:

Personalized Virginia license plate bearing a portrait of Robert E Lee. License plate reads: 0-1 LOL

Below the plate is a bumper sticker that reads: I'd rather be secretly modifying a Komatsu 355A over a year and a half time period in Granby, CO

Reminds me of this statue. LOL I would’ve been in favor of leaving confederate statues up if they all looked like this.

I feel sorry for the horse. The owner of the land and statue was a real "over my dead body" type of guy. Well he died and the executor of his will ordered it removed.

Great move:that's one disgusting plate. I'd like to see a long overdue law banning their goddamned traitorous flag. I'd argue that allowing it to be flown freely for 150 years has done more to stifle social progress in America than anything else. It's a powerful symbol of hatred, racism and violence
2

It is a legal minefield: the 1st Amendment protects Freedom of Expression, Freedom of Assembly & Freedom of Speech. Ostensibly, a federal law could be created in which the Confederate flag used in acts of insurrection (e.g. 6/1/ 2021) incriminates via its associations with Fascism.

So, Matt, the United States, which you seem intent on championing with this skeet, has a whole thing about how we don't ban symbols of any kind. It's really a core civic virtue.

She's damn awesome, btw that money should go to non profits dealing with racism to help downtrodden. Why the fuck did they think neo Nazi was good idea to give the money to back then?

Because the Confederacy deserves to be erased like the skid mark it was, along with anyone who still defends it.

What is most infuriating about Lee’s history is that Confederate sympathizers don’t have the military expertise or seem to understand is that his set-piece battle strategy very predictably doomed their cause.

If the traitors had fought a guerrilla war, there is no way the union could have won.

The South were not traitors. They had a right to secede at the time. The military tactics of Southern generals is taught to this day in military school.

Why does the US honor confederate ranks? Like besides the whole traitor thing, Lee was a colonel. The confederacy made him a general but he never was one in the American military.

It's because the North started the conflict. They invaded the South. The latter were merely defending themselves. States had a right to secede from the Union back then, since the Constitution is silent on that.

Anybody who idolizes "Killdozer" is a piece of shit.

That dude was an absolute fucking maniac. The majority of people don't even actually understand his story, because the majority of documentaries tell it from the view of his deranged manifesto.

He literally tried to kill as many people as he could in his City, over an issue that he himself created. He had a small problem related to his sewage, the company next door offered to help him, he refused, demanded they buy his property, they agreed at the price, he increased the price insanely

The killdozer story is important to always remember. It is a cautionary tale to anyone considering telling a small business owner "no"!!!

i dont think many people idolize him so much as find the whole affair darkly funny for how utterly surreal it is

It's worrying how often I see people on the left idolize Killdozer, Kaczynski and Dormer. The latter 2 is basically entirely based off "I hate techbros" and "I hate cops" taking over their entire logic process, but I can't figure out the Killdozer praise at all.

I don't know a ton about the story nor do I frequently come across killdozer fans but to me it kinda seemed similar to Luigi in a "I don't condone this but I get it" kind of way.

Its like... A LITTLE funny... Like not the murder but being so fucking tilted over a nonissue that you make a contraption famously dubbed the "killdozer"
1

Aw that’s a shame. My fascination with this story was deeply rooted in the very specific nuances and motivations of the grievances this guy had and not, you know… just the thrill of just driving a homemade tank over a police car.
