This happens all the time in woso as well, and I absolutely share Frankie's frustration.

Players deserve better questions, and frankly as media we don't exactly get unlimited shots at asking one. Every "big crowd...good?" or role model question means something else isn't going to be asked.

ANYWAY, the Winn brothers are still outside TD Garden meeting and taking photos with fans

It’s sexist—the idea that women have to be role models for the next generation rather than fulfilling their own dreams by selling out TD Garden.

It’s really frustrating to watch media who don’t usually cover the game show up to the big games & ask questions that don’t address the hockey & just push a particular narrative that centers being a role model over being a pro athlete.

If I never have to hear another question about what the big crowds mean for young girls and how these players can be an example, it won’t be soon enough.

The Victoire’s Lina
Ljungblom and Ann-Renee Desbiens had really cute teammate chemistry in the postgame presser. They were fun!

OK yeah, a sold out Garden singing the lyrics to Shipping Up to Boston for the Fleet is pretty cool, let's do it again, yeah?

The arena just played “All The Things She Said” as a singalong and I just texted my partner, whose father wrote the song. My partner is in the stands having a very bizarre few minutes as the whole crowd sings

Also spotted in the crowd: those guys who went viral for winning a Heated Rivalry look alike contest and have now been on several dates. They were wearing the HR jerseys of their respective characters

SPOTTED: a Snatch Magazine “lesbian fans fill your stands” shirt on the Jumbotron! I wish I’d gotten a picture of it

MSG got Billie Jean King for their puck drop and TD Garden got some man (ex-Bruin Zdeno Chára but still just some man to me)

Cool, I’m in the stands now and absolutely crying at the cheers of this crowd for the Fleet. What a fucking moment.

Accessibility note for folks who need assisted listening devices: they’re not formally available but if you head to guest services at LOGE 4 they can get one set up for you!

Players are warming up now as the crowd starts to file in, I'm so stoked for these players. This is going to be a GREAT environment to play some hockey

The optics, in varying degrees, apply to everyone. If I covered a WNBA team and wore an A’ja Wilson jersey in the press box or if I covered the NBA and hung out with players at the club afterward, you’d be right not to trust any news from me.

Like come on, I’m gay and cover the WNBA and other women’s sports. Do you know how many sources I’ve wanted to flirt with or even be friends with?? A lot! But I’m not willing to risk my career even if to climb a hot basketball players like a tree lol

Even if it’s not an affair, there is no world in which I meet up with a source & their friends at a hotel & hold hands with them. Even if I’m profiling them & spending a day together for the story, we aren’t engaging in that kind of physical affection EVER. That alone breaks the ethics of the job.

I don’t actually care about marital affairs! Monogamy is generally unrealistic for many people in the long-term & infidelity is common. That’s their business. Russini having an affair with a source she covers as part of her job is public business bc it affects her ability to do her job properly.

IMO it’s bc the heat isn’t about an affair. It’s about her job as a journalist demanding specific boundaries regarding source relationships, which his job as a football coach doesn’t require of him in return. She violated the ethics of her job in a way he didn’t, even if they’re both having affairs.
