Here's How To Counter Trump's $10 Billion Lawsuit Against the IRS robertreich.substack.com/p/how-to-counter-trumps-10-billion

Trump isn't just suing the IRS. He's waging a war on it.

His regime has...

-Shut down the IRS's Direct File program, a huge gift to the tax prep industry

-Gutted IRS staff, leaving fewer employees to assist taxpayers

-Deprioritized federal tax prosecutions, letting tax cheats off the hook

This flew under the radar: Trump's new acting AG Todd Blanche shut down major DOJ investigations into crypto companies, dealers, and exchanges as Pam Bondi's second-in-command — all while holding at least $159,000 in crypto assets himself.

The fox is guarding the hen house.

The $117 billion tax break Trump handed the 1% is more than federal spending on:

-The Agriculture Department at $89.2 billion
-The Education Department at $46.9 billion
-The Labor Department at $22.7 billion
-The Energy Department at $20 billion

The rich are getting richer by robbing us.

Is it any wonder?

I have always been a huge fan of Dolly Parton. We're the same age, same height, share the same values, but she can sing better. And she has more Grammys. I've always wanted to meet her!

In his first 100 days, Zohran Mamdani has:

-Delivered millions in restitution for workers cheated by gig companies
-Cracked down on predatory landlords
-Launched the first stage of a universal childcare program
-Fixed thousands of potholes in NYC streets

This is what leadership looks like.

1)Republicans lost the popular vote in 7 of last 9 presidential elections

2)more than 2/3 of Americans had not even been born yet the last time the Court had a majority appointed by Dem. president.

The Post left these 2 points out of this #scotus story.

The richest 1% will get $117 billion in tax cuts this year, thanks to Trump.

That’s more than the combined budgets of eight federal agencies, including the Department of Education and the EPA.

Meanwhile, the bottom 95% will see their taxes increase.

It’s clear who he governs for.

Trump’s regulators haven’t lifted a finger to crack down on these suspicious trades.

Meanwhile, Don Jr. is involved with both Polymarket & Kalshi — and the Trumps’ social media company is launching its own prediction market.

Of course they stand to gain from this shadiness going unchecked.

The biggest divide is not between “right” and “left." It’s between democracy and oligarchy. The billionaires who control our economy and democracy seek to divide us. They want us to turn on each other so we don't look up and see that they have all the wealth and power.

Inflation jumped 0.9% in March, largely due to oil price spikes tied to Trump's war on Iran.

This was the highest one-month gain since June 2022.

Even more alarming, wage growth is slowing and we're witnessing declining economic growth across the board.

Tired of "winning" yet?

1. It’s not just Trump. Here’s a Republican Senator posting a clip of the Republican House Speaker falsely claiming that the Democrats count on “illegals voting” to win.

This is a lie - “illegal” votes are statistically insignificant. They have produced no material evidence, yet keep lying.

2.5 million Americans are no longer receiving food stamp benefits since the passage of Trump and Republicans’ big, ugly bill.

They used a pack of lies to justify their egregious cuts to the program. Don’t believe it for a second. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8StUs6Ufe_4

Residents of a small Wisconsin town just passed a first-of-its-kind referendum on AI data center development.

Tax incentives for future data centers will now require voter approval.

Kudos to these residents for taking on Big Tech. Never doubt your power to change the system.

Trump accepted $37 million worth of donated foreign steel for his White House ballroom from a corporation based in Luxembourg.

Just days later, the Trump administration made major cuts to tariffs on steel imports that could significantly benefit that corporation.

BREAKING: House Republicans blocked a resolution to end Trump's war on Iran.

The Republican presiding gaveled out the session without even calling the measure to a vote.

Under our constitution, Congress has the sole power to declare war. Refusing to even hold a vote on it is shameful & cowardly.

Reminder: Corporate consolidation, like what we've seen over the years in the airline industry, leads to less competition.

It gives the biggest remaining corporations the power to rip you off and protect profits because you have fewer options from whom to buy from.

For every $1 the IRS spends auditing the top 1%, it could collect roughly $13.

For every $1 the IRS spends auditing the top 0.1%, it could collect $26.

Wondering why the Trump regime has cut 25,000 IRS employees in the last year?

It's about making it easier for the rich to evade taxes.
