Reader, reader, chocolate-eater. Big fan of treating all humans like humans. She/her.

One thing you can do to support the preservation of history even if you can't visit the Smithsonian or National Historic Site is to learn your local history. They can't hide, erase, or "reconstruct" everything.

Hosting my soon-to-be-17-year-old's b-day celebration. They are all watching Repo Man in the basement. It won out over second-choice The Blues Brothers.

I blame myself for playing Iggy Pop in the car the other day.

If in 2026, you are STILL saying 'why didn't X survivor/victim of sexual assault go to the cops or prosecutors?' then you cannot be trusted to drive a car or live by yourself because you are ignorant.

I think I'm coming to view LLMs as essentially being the Fae.
The Fae are usually seen as not having souls, and therefore not having consciousness in a way we can recognize;
they don't understand the difference between lies and truth, kindness and cruelty;

Those US-Iran negotiations in a nutshell:

Iran sent 4 PhDs to Islamabad.

The US sent a real estate developer, a son-in-law, a lawyer and a general.

I wish someone would point this out to the disability "advocates" who have been pimping wearables targeting Long Covid and chronic illness communities for profit, not because they can accurately calculate your baseline from the dermis level

16 said he heard that music was good for plants. I said I'd heard that, too.

A few minutes ago, I saw him headed upstairs with his record player and a Fugazi album.

CASHIER: Are you part of our rewards program?

ME: No. I want to pay the maximum amount, leave here, and never think about your store again.

This is one of those days when I woke up way too early and just resented the hell out of all the chirpy dawn birds.

This facility has been systemically negligent for many years. DC Dept. of Health has plenty of reports of PIW's mistreatment of patients. They don't want to shut it down bc it's the only facility in DC. People continue to be harmed in this environment.

Dude when your wife wants to jump out of the plane because you’ve been talking to her about Western Civilization for three hours that’s not ”skydiving”

FFS, use your goddamn earbuds in the surgery waiting room! I don't want to hear your bullshit while my spouse is in surgery.

And I thought having speakers on in the library was bad.

Things that help calm the nervous system, quickly:

- Box breathing (in for 4, hold for 4, out for 4, hold for 4, repeat)
- Immerse your face in cold water (activates mammalian dive reflex)
- Humming (stimulates vagus nerve)
- Exercise (anything helps, outside even better)
- Impeachment and removal

This is not an acceptable library donation. We cannot add these to our collection or sell them. You are wasting the time of our generous volunteers.

If you want to give us the profits from your investments, then please go ahead.

The book banners said that anyone of any age needs parental permission to read our books. It took an international flight, but I got it. Did you?

Fundraiser for librarian Luanne James, who stood up to her rightwing library board that demanded she remove kids books with any trace of LBGTQ+ characters or content.

"I will not comply."

They sacked her and cops escorted her out.

She's a hero. This banned author just donated.

The Supreme Court did not strike down conversion therapy bans today.

Not nationwide. Not in Colorado. Not anywhere.

Here's what actually happened in Chiles v. Salazar—and why the coverage you're seeing serves the conservative legal movement more than it serves you.

I've helped so many people trying not to cry at the library in the past week. Waves of frustration radiate from so many more. It takes energy to de-escalate them. If another person trauma dumps on me, I may crawl under a rock.
Damn stupid UX & God bless social workers and other caregivers.

It’s a fine if freakin frigid day to fight the fascists here in the DMV, or wherever you are fighting from!
Got your signs and banners ready? Pro tip: cut scallops/u shapes in cloth banners to allow the wind a way through.
🤘, anti-fascists!
