By what is effectively a 9-6 vote, the en banc Fourth Circuit has vacated an injunction blocking DOGE from accessing Social Securit data (that #SCOTUS had previously stayed).
Much of the drama is over the precedential effects of #SCOTUS's June 2025 intervention:
"One paper’s acknowledgements thank 'Professor Maria Bohm at The Starfleet Academy for her kindness and generosity in contributing with her knowledge and her lab onboard the USS Enterprise'."
Perhaps letting the entirely partisan Speaker of the House (as they always are, as they always must be, if they want to get elected Speaker in the first place) decide what gets a vote and what does not get vote is not the best way to ensure legislation is daily business.
Let's be clear: it's not necessarily the racism that the Alabama Supreme Court is fine with. It's Gestapo-level powers and immunity for the police that the court is fine with. And that's worse because as anyone in Minneapolis can tell you, police will turn that against *everyone*.
CBS News has a bombshell interview with a U.S. soldier who survived the deadly attack in Kuwait on the first day of the way -- he says Pete Hegseth is lying about the attack and that the base "was unprepared to provide any defense for itself." www.cbsnews.com/news/iran-war-kuwait-drone-attack-survivors-us-army/

The 25th Amendment has a smaller chance of removing Trump from office than impeachment since it will require 2/3 vote from both chambers of Congress when Trump petitions congress that he is fit to serve
I like this because it articulates the conservative concept of freedom in a nutshell. You have the freedom to do x, except you don't, because I don't want you to. bsky.app/profile/atrupar.com/post/3miz2ypzbar2a
- there's still a war - the only country engaged in a ceasefire is the united states - the strait of hormuz is apparently going to a subscription model - there are precisely zero points of actual agreement
Just wanted to remind folks, especially the GOP and the FDD, that Barack Obama’s 2015 nuclear deal didn’t give Iran control of the Strait of Hormuz or allow it to keep 60% enriched uranium. It sent $1.7 billion to Iran versus the tens of billions Iran will now make from tolls. 🤷🏽♂️
Ceasefire or not, America can’t continue with this kind of “Look at me, I’m a crazy former reality show star, tune in to see what I’ll do next?!?” insanity. Donald Trump has to go.
My column, arguing you don't just walk back from a threat of genocide:
Just for a second, I would like everyone to briefly contemplate how American media would have covered either George Bush announcing a joint venture with Saddam Hussein to charge the rest of the world a tax on oil.
a longer-term effect of this is that there is little reason for governments to negotiate with democratic administrations knowing that a republican administration will come in, undo any deal, and ultimately put the U.S. in a worse position at the cost of a few hundred civilian lives
