for the first time in my 35 years of life did a "wavy hair" routine and diffused my hair and it looks so good I want to throw up. you're telling me I could have been doing this my entire life and I just didn't? i'm sick

A tragic symptom of artistry

"Oh THAT'S how chords work? I could have been doing that the whole time? Let me just see if I can hoist this piano up high enough to drop it on my head like a loony toon and free me of this humiliation"

I read about someone once taking up guitar, and they didn't know the strings were supposed to be tuned a certain way. They just figured out ways to get sounds they wanted somehow

I so badly didn’t know I had curls that when I was 19(20 years ago) I got my hair permed 😭😭

I also swapped to a diffuser in the last couple years and its like... night and day. Takes forever but it's so worth it! Now if only my texture would last longer than like, a day before flattening out from oil

I learned this at 42 😭

After wearing my frizzy hair stick straight for 47 years, I discovered I absolutely don't have straight, frizzy, hair.

I have wavy/curly hair that i have been abusing my whole life.

You're not alone.

Yuppp. The pandemic was an eye opener for a lot of us that our hair didn't have to look frizzy and broken all the time if we just let it be itself

Okay so related to this, every curly and wavy hair routine I see includes some kind of mousse or gel? Is this necessary? I fucking hate how gel and mouse makes my hair feel

My stylist recently introduced me to Cult+King with their Multiverse and I have fallen in love with it! cultandking.com/product/multiverse-one-styling-product-for-infinite-hair-realities/

I have 2c curls and once I switched to using shampoo and conditioner bars (Kitsch), I didn’t need mousse anymore. My only styling product is Kitsch Styling Mist, which is cruelty-free, a must for me.

I do too. I would have more defined waves/curls if I used it but I hate using it so I juuust...don't most of the time. My hair is more soft and fluffy but that's how I prefer it

You gotta use something, but it doesn’t have to be gel or mouse. Like you can use silicon based styling product (they call themselves oils but that’s a lie. It’s a touch of oil and mostly silicon). But that only works if you’re keeping your hair in a shape that’s similar to its natural one

OH! So! Try Miss Jessie’s! You cannot feel it at ALL. And it works better than the crunchy shit.

I don't like how gel or mousse feel, either! I use this curl cream: us.davines.com/products/love-curl-cream

There is an attachment for blowdryers called a diffuser. You can put some curl creme in or just let it go and use that attachment to get the curls of your life. It’s lovely.

Recently, I googled haircuts for frizzy hair and ended up doing a "wolf cut". Guess what? I don't have to do ANYTHING with my hair anymore.

i started doing the wavy hair thing and my hair… stopped knotting itself

literally my hair would knot itself immediately after combing. when i was a kid, my friends called my hair “the beast.”

turns out it’s bc it’s wavy

i‘m still mad

I was introduced to a diffuser by a stylist who literally changed my life when I was 12 years old. I’ve never dried it without one since.

As a fellow light wavy who could never figure out why my hair brushed out so poofy, sigh yeah. Yeah.

The wave is why it brushes out poofy? Grew my fine hair out during COVID, discovered it had a nice wave, and couldn't get it to be non poofy so I cut it off.

I've had things like this and the only reason I don't get bummed is I tell myself the fact I can still get surprised by little things in life means that life isn't fully boring yet.

If you do it right, you'll be surprised how not boring life can remain.

i've only used a diffuser a few times with curl creme and it's crazy effective

I didn't even really do it right (apparently you're supposed to do it on low speed to keep the waves defined) and it was still absolutely wild

Also, if you haven’t already, stop washing your hair every day. When I found out I had wavy/curly hair and was taught how to care for it, it blew my mind.

Yuuup I seriously wash it 1-2 times a week. I use a dry shampoo in between if needed.

Oh, and if anyone is looking for a curl cream that lasts for fucking ever, holds curl, and is basically weightless you cannot go wrong with anything from Miss Jessie’s.
