The wave is why it brushes out poofy? Grew my fine hair out during COVID, discovered it had a nice wave, and couldn't get it to be non poofy so I cut it off.

Yeah! I started out with advice that using an old cotton tshirt to dry medium-fine hair could prevent frizz, so I did that, just kind of collecting up and squeezing my hair in sections - surprise wave! Brushing it out will result in poofiness, but some hair is too fine to leave unbrushed.

I did the cotton teeshirt thing. I think part of the problem is that I have an insane amount of hair. Its fine, but I have a ton. Maybe if I shaved it underneath? I can definitely leave it unbrushed.
