PayPal is trying to say this is due to "Government restrictions", presumably in an attempt to legitimize their actions. There are no government restrictions on adults purchasing adult content. I replied that it was due to pressure from Collective Shout, but idk if that will do anything.

I haven't heard back from Visa, MasterCard, or Stripe yet, but I'd expect the same from them. I'll update if I do get a response.

Wouldn't the specific stuff they're cracking down on potentially be covered by obscenity laws?

Potentially (being honest, I only heard about those here in the US yesterday), but regardless, as those laws are in direct opposition to the US constitution (freedom of speech and all that), those laws shouldn't be allowed to go through and should be fought tooth and nail.
