Neighbor found our wheelbarrow and some of our belongings the thieves had jettisoned when the wheelbarrow got a flat tire. Thank goodness for stupid thieves. (The functional wheelbarrow was closer to the house.)

Two angry Canadian geese have parked themselves outside my back door. Think they want the little dog that chased them. 🫣

How to give me a panic attack. Stepped outside door, shoo away geese so I can let my dogs out. Geese returned. Let dogs out; they ran full speed at the geese. 😱 Geese flew, dog went airborne, then landed in the pond. Jump in the pond frantic. Dog came up, grabbed him. He's fine. I'm shook.

Spotted small dog and caught her. Brought her home and bathed her twice. Sweet little Lhasa Apso. Got on with my dogs very well. Neighborhood grapevine is amazing. Neighbors pointed the owner to my house. (Coyotes and great horned owls would have got her for sure. Scary!) She's home now.

Happy fecking Easter. Our barn was broken into last night. Tools stolen and dad's military medals.

Found a teeny tiny fabric shop. But the prints are so unique.

Never washed a corset before. (I'm older than dirt.) Ordered an inexpensive corset from Amazon. (Event is this weekend /no way I'll have full costume done.) Corset arrived and smelled of perfume/pesticides. Nope, feckity, nope! Into the wash! If it survives, fine. If not, garbage.

Professional grade heavy weight Herringbone Coutil for the win! It's stiff (like paper). Zero drape. Thin, so it doesn't add bulk to a corset and woven strong to last. Excellent quality! corsetmaking.com.

Round two- received plain coutil. Ordered professional grade heavy weight coutil from a third company. Should be here in a few days. Sending a prayer to the powers that be they get it right. (This is getting expensive.)

Smithsonian Institution- Martha Washington's silk taffeta gown (early 1780's) features 58 insects. Painted pattern includes floral bouquets and a variety of creatures such as butterflies, ants, beetles, bees, and spiders, all arranged within a ribbon-trellis pattern. (Completely enamored!)😍

Sometimes I am such a goober! Ordered Voile from Etsy. Planned to sew shift (chemise) before the weekend. Nope! TIL it's coming from Turkey. The country of Turkey! Laughed so hard coughed on hot cocoa. Guess I'm sewing the corset next. 🤣

Lordy, I need to start doing serious sewing.

Watching Outlander, season 8, episode one.

The merchant had a bolt of fabric in his hands. Let out a scream and paused the show (visceral reaction).

Want! Want! Want!

Simplicity pattern 8162. Sewing pattern states I’m a size 12. Mockup says- nope! Tried a size 18 mockup- nope! Size 22 mockup- spot on! (Always sew mockups. Always.)

Would like a new renaissance gown. Priority #1- underpinnings. Need to sort through what I have and decide what still fits and probably sew a new conical shaped corset. Always a journey.

1950 Japanese silk Brocade (think that’s what this). 100 year old neighbor passed. Daughter told me the military story of her family, how this has been in her mom’s cedar chest for decades (dad was a pilot) and gifted it to me. Now? Here I sit, speechless.

Purchased fat squares were heavily sprayed w/ insecticides and perfumes. (Cough!) Wore kitchen gloves and held breath while stuffing fabric into lingerie bags for a good soapy wash.

Vintage Barbie Cut and Sew fabric panel. This one had me laughing. Not one true seam. No pocket placement and the bust darts are off by half an inch. A little one playing with the outfit wouldn’t care one bit. An adult would spot it. Gotta love vintage.

Now that they are here, I can shout it to the world. 49 used Barbie patterns for $40! Too wonderful to pass up. One by Brooke Shields, one that’s maybe Carol Brady, and one that looks like Charlie’s Angels. Didn’t know that was a thing.

Broke my rule- never buy pre-cut Barbie patterns. Feels like Schrödinger's cat. Will this be a disaster or not?
