The internet wasn't always this way, but gradual deregulation from the 2000s onward turned people into brands and corporations into people. It's not cultural decay, it's a deliberate material campaign run by billionaires with names, addresses, and the same mortality as the rest of us.

As someone who has been Popular On Internet their entire adult life, I hope folks understand that the urge to share every personal detail and intrusive thought isn't normal or necessary. It was invented by social media companies to extract money from you. You're a person, not a "content creator."

They don't necessarily know they're maintaining the system—not consciously. But they do it anyways. They're a part of it, social cells making up a social animal spread across nations, culture, and history. That system will try to perpetuate itself, as all things do.

A long time ago I saw a documentary where a geologist said rocks evolve, but not in the way we do. We die, whereas they change shape. Mineralize. They shift without dying.

I think of concepts in much the same way. We cannot touch an idea, but that idea perpetuates itself through us.

It's not just impossible for fascists to actually have an accurate perception of their enemies, but they are unable to even perceive what their negotiations are.

They'll walk out of getting their ass handed to them and be like "fuck yeah, total capitulation" whether in combat or peace talks.
