Let it be known that Katherine Johnson was the reason for the first astronauts in space.

And now Vanessa Wyche, head of the Johnson Space Center and NASA's highest ranking civil servant, is the responsible for the longest manned space flight in history

DEI for the win baby. Look "gestures widely" at what's happening without DEI?

Every day I look around me at the general incompetence in the workplace and think of how many problems we would not have had there been more (any!) women or Black people in the room when decisions were made. We would not be dealing with this.

We’re fortunate that Pete Hegseth has no say over NASA.

Was just talking about this. Thank you Ms Johnson.

I love this. (And I wish I could think of a word to replace "manned" in this context.)

NASA's official style guide instructions in 2006 were to use non-gender specific references - most outlets these days use "crewed" or "human" instead of "manned". slate.com/technology/2015/10/manned-spaceflight-time-to-change-the-language.html

“And, now Vanessa Wyche; head of the Johnson Space Center and NASA's highest ranking civil servant, it is SHE who is responsible for the longest manned space flight in history”
We all feel the pride for which words cannot express completely

I remember the Challenger. This is amazing, just incredible. Artemis II just landed safely!

Astronauts (and scientists and engineers) rock! 🙏🏽 👏🏽

I wonder if flight controllers suffer brain damage from holding their breath for six minutes every time a crew returns to Earth.

It almost seems like we needed an educated, experienced Woman of Color as POTUS instead of the Orange Diaper Stain Child Rapist Convicted Fraudster we got instead.

Hmmm...maybe we'll get another shot to do it right...

I’m not sure how historically accurate Hidden Figures was but I walked outta that movie so inspired by learning about those women & that damn blacks only bathroom clear across campus! I was literally walking on air over their successes!

As always....

the book is better.

The movie was amazing but....not accurate. He didnt desegregate the bathrooms like the movie implied....they did alone.

But still great movie

In the face of this administration, I believe that NASA successfully skirted the unlawful demands of those seeking to dismantle our country and put on display a milestone that was also a middle finger to the folks who would “cancel” science.

Not to mention the crew included a woman, a black man and a Canadian. Hegseth must be choking on all that DEI. Pathetic that he thinks he represents the meritocracy.

My co-worker used to work for NASA and said he worked on that Artemis rocket. Kinda cool to know I know someone connected to this event.

Putting it on one person really cuts away at the team that made it possible.

This is not putting one person, it's putting it on billions, she is a reprensitive of black people and women who have been discredited for their work for too long.

The Apollo program logged one Apollo mission with over 4,000,000 miles. I can’t figure out why NASA exaggerated the distance of this mission.

Maybe to keep funding from the Short Attention Span administration?

This mission didn't set a record for total miles traveled. It set a record for human distance from Earth.
