As an academic now studying news, its influence on audiences, and how reporting methods affect audience beliefs, I can see where we’re going. We need to change before it’s too late, if it isn’t already.

His experience and my own came under a model that’s been in place for decades: news reporting focuses on isolated individual facts, i.e. today Trump says the Hormuz Strait is open. Articles that put facts together and pull back to see the bigger picture are “analysis” pieces and much rarer.
