Before watching Sola, I did not know that a show about a vanilla male protagonist with 2 moe girls fighting for his affection could be feminist, but it could: It revealed the male lead was never even real, erased him from existence, everyone forgets him, and it happily ends with the girls moving on.

It's pretty relieving to see anti censorship in fiction and concept of thought crime is starting to break into general far left spaces. It was rough on twitter how every big "proship" account was either apolitical, straight up a 4channer, or liberal who stans the democratic party.

It's part of why what I DO post is so casual, uninspired, lazy, compared to what I want to create. Too violent, too much.

Some of the official art of Kannagi no Tori has the same energy as moe bishoujo game art and I think that's one of the reasons why it's one of the few bishounen media I actually got attached to.

it's just so funny, an entire generation was like "we must raise our children towards a fairer, kinder world" and as soon as their kids got old enough to actually try to build that fairer kinder world they acted like it was some huge mystery why all the young people weren't bloodthirsty war boosters

As someone who does prefer my stories to be on the more profound and prestigious end, it does lowkey make me sad that bishounen/male eye candy media is pretty limited to fluff or BL fangirl kink while every bishoujo game or anime I look up turns out to have an unexpectedly mature, complicated plot.

This isn't to say Japanese socmed is an improvement at all though. I do escape it to it to avoid certain problems with English socmed but I really don't like how ignorant they can be on stuff we commonly know is bad here (like AI) or how the average JP twitter user is a reincarnation of Hitler.

It's morbid but there is a small blessing in the fact being progressive and into politics is pretty niche in Japanese socmed in that you won't see your average Tanaka-kuns and Tanaka-chans misusing activist and social justice language for bad tiktok takes and fandom discourse.
