Also, maybe I curated my feed better when I had a JP twitter alt but I think the Japanese online left being small also helped significantly bring down the clique-y discourse.

This isn't to say Japanese socmed is an improvement at all though. I do escape it to it to avoid certain problems with English socmed but I really don't like how ignorant they can be on stuff we commonly know is bad here (like AI) or how the average JP twitter user is a reincarnation of Hitler.

Going back though, god it's so nice to see an equivalent of Vote Blue No Matter didn't happen in JP political circles even among the most milquetoast liberals.
