Unloved by Elon (who once tried to get me fired), disgusted at "conservatives" who turned out to be Trump cultists, hoping Democrats will get healthier, and wishing Congress would do its damned job.

Grok holding an awesome 11th place on the Artificial Analysis leaderboard. Even behind a couple of companies I've never even heard of. As the wise Charlie Gasparino says: Sad ha!

Two’s a trend. And, trust me I have been involved in hundreds of IPO’s over multiple decades, it’s not for altruistic reasons. They already sense a lack of institutional demand and are looking to dump bags on retail.

4/ FWIW, I strongly agree with Williamson's criticisms of the Roberts' opinions in the Affordable Care Act and presidential immunity cases. I hope Roberts has come to regret both of those; it's fine to be an "institutionalist," but there are limits.

3/ Yes, I know that here, it's just about a universal truth too evident to be discussed that Dobbs was wrongly decided. Some of us - who cannot rightly be called "pro-lifers" - disagree, but that argument requires more space & attention than a social media site allows.

2/ Obviously, Williamson's use of "conservatives" acknowledges both that Trump is no conservative and that SCOTUS as a whole is "conservative" inasmuch as it is preserving classical Constitutional liberalism.

Here's the link. Well worth a read, as is so much content @thedispatchmedia.bsky.social.

1/ Kevin D. Williamson, brilliant on so many things, opens his essay in praise of SCOTUS with characteristic insight (btw, I see plenty of the "legitimacy watch" nonsense from my "friends on the left" at this site):

Now hear this:

This a.m., $TSLA market cap, for a moment, dipped below $1.3 trillion.

Yet, so, so far to go.

That is all.

Don’t.

Gary Kasparov has the right read on this over at that other place.

@jessicabriedl.bsky.social, too: "f you rely on the Twitter accounts below for politics or news, it is overwhelmingly likely that you just come away more misinformed, angry, conspiratorial, and, well, stupid."

I listened today to @kofinas (of the superb Hidden Forces podcast) have a discussion with the author of this piece, which is getting lots of attention. Not sure what I think of it, but it's worth a careful read.

Reminder that acting AG Todd Blanche spoke at CPAC. It was unthinkable in the past for a DOJ attorney to participate in partisan politics.

Worse, he boasted that every federal officer "with a gun" (FBI agents & others) who had participated in any Trump investigation had now been fired.

True scum.

*** Tesla Production – Q1 Update

Deliveries of 358k vs consensus 366k. Production of 408k.

Although Tesla production was their second-lowest quarter in 3 years, it still outpaced deliveries by 50,363. That sets records for both quarterly inventory and cumulative inventory.

It was so on-brand that Trump, surrounded by nothing but "yes, boss" lickspittles, would stay for only the government's argument in Trump v. Barbara, but manage to miss what the challengers had to say.

He truly lives in a bubble. I wonder if he even realizes how deeply unpopular he is.

With 50k cars produced in excess of cars sold, $TSLA cash flow should be interesting. Eagerly awaiting analysis from @coverdrive12.bsky.social.

Reminder: flagging sales of aging models is what happens when your Board's compensation package incentivizes stock pumping rather than durable growth.

Registered Republican @davidkotok.bsky.social's anger about US Rep Anna Paulina Luna is white hot, and I'm with him 100%. When Luna is not licking Trump's toes, she's licking Putin's. I'm joining David in sending some $$ to Luna's challenger, Democrat Leela Gray.

Never consulted with them beforehand. Never asked them to join until after you fucked it up. Spent the past year trying to expropriate their territory and extort them with tariffs. Insult and berate them nonstop. Oh, and it’s a defensive alliance. Can Poland attack Russia and demand US involvement?

The birthright citizenship case will be argued tomorrow. I'll be following the liveblog - www.scotusblog.com.

Trump will lose. Probably 9-0. Possibly b/c Court will say such a change must be made by Congress, not an Exec Order. And will not reach the question of whether Congress can lawfully do it.
