These new PC monitor tandem OLEDs sound neat, but I don't understand why the iPad OLED is rated for 1000 nits @ 100% window, while PC monitors are just now breaching 300 nits.

Something something OLED type, stacking, power limits, substrate type, etc.

I got into it once and there's a bunch of engineering details behind differences in screen sizes and etc. even for the "same" technology, I just left it for some indefinite future me to understand

Economies of scale! TVs benefit the same way iPads do, which is why entry level OLEDs there are 700-1000 nits I'm guessing :)

But also even for the iPads, the manufacturing costs for the OLEDs are already like in the hundreds of dollars are they not?
