/6 I thought Platner stans were fucking creepy until I met Swalwell stans, one of whom just told me women should say "no" more forcefully

Yiiiiiiiikes. The only Swalwell stan I know is gay, and it’s more of a “would” situation than stan situation

It’s always a woman’s job to stop a guy from sexually assaulting her and never a guy’s responsibility to not sexually assault

Apparently one or more of the accusers were incapacitated at the time of the "encounter." How to say no then? Post-It notes in their undies, just in case?

Planter has a bunch of red flags and indications he does not take sexual seriously enough, there has been so far zero indications of actual inappropriate behavior toward women from himself. (so far and would not really be surprised if something surfaces) Swalwell has had an edge of a creep forever.

I'm wondering how many of those Swalwell stans here are anything other than MAGA disinformation trolls cosplaying as Dems.

Daw a study that showed most of yhe K-hive trolls were foreign. I wouldn't put much stock into any account that isn't personally identifiable and yes I am aware of the irony.

This just makes me wonder if the pod save bros have come out in support of Swalwell

That’s a typical response in my experience. Many men have childish and immature views on sexual assault. It’s a chosen state of ignorance.

Victim blaming is neither childish nor immature. It is a clear choice both inspired by and perpetuating rape culture - a culture that mostly benefits grown men. They’re not immature. They’re just comfortable.

Yes, chosen. Not accepting that social norms from 40 years ago no longer apply is a conscious choice

If a guy made it all the way to 2018 with that outlook, the omnipresence of #metoo should've dragged him towards enlightenment. He'd have to make a conscious choice to remain an utter bastard

/7 For those who asked, the letter being sent by text message probably signifies they don't have a current address or email for the woman, but have a cell phone number, and are desperate to threaten immediately.

I'm no lawyer, but I've been around quire a few, including some family members. I'll ask one to look at this and tell me what she thinks.

However, my gut reaction is also that this just barely *might* a dirty political trick, or Swalwell is guilty. Anybody see another non-science fiction option?

The letter makes me think they didn’t know the accusation was coming. It reads as if written by a lawyer who doesn’t specialize in defamation (or “reputation management”), & Swallwell is probably smart enough to have had one in place if he’d been prepared. And the flailing tone is rushed.

How is delivering an official letter via text legit? I’ve been getting “court summons” before Judge John Smith for traffic violations via text. This would immediately go to spam and block.

Am I wrong to think there are 2 truths here? I think Swallwell and team are suspicious. 2: The timing of this? VERY suspicious.

Walking into a hornets’ nest here … from distance Platner appears more likely than Mills to win seat Dems MUST win, he’s younger, he’s not privileged elite. Those weigh heavily in his favor. Are they outweighed by evidence of his character? I don’t know enough but understand why progressives split.

How are you still wondering?

Even if he wins.

He has no business there.

Platner's grandfather helped design Windows on the World and other landmarks, and he worked with Saarinen on furniture, which is not inexpensive decor. Platner attended private schools in CT and ME. I'm a cert'd educator in Maine and Platner's abundance is not that of the majority.

Read this before deciding he is not a member of the “privileged elite”. docs.google.com/document/d/1fN9YVhhrpTl6uz107VA-C9hNJnw4PCDw0PyGB1-odPc/mobilebasic

They're the same stans. "Progressives." They're OK with rape, misogyny, homophobia, racism and Nazis.
