Typos are my now

I have been struggling with anger about the nonstop GOP crimes. Today I weeded for hours in a beautiful client garden, without gloves (direct contact with the bacterium in healthy soil, has the same effect on the brain as Prozac). 🌱 ALL of my anger vanished. Incredible. Gardening is medicine.

Remember the living walls we hand make and install? Every year they raise baby birds. 🪺 Living walls not only multiply your growing space, cool hot walls and sequester carbon, but in studies support more species than any other type of gardening or farming. 🌱 raised 4 baby dark-eyed junko birds.

Artichoke harvest time on the motion picture studios farm in Culver City. Leaves should be tightly closed when harvested. If open (like some of these), I prefer to let them fully open and flower to feed pollinators. 🌱They will spread seeds and make even more plants.

Sleepy fledgling # 2 on our motion picture studios farm. Dark eyed junko mamma was so stressed because the fledgling sibling was all the way around the corner. She flitted between them both collecting worms off of the crops to feed and check on both, talking to them constantly.🌱Best pest managers.

Today we found the doorway to prison on Mars on the lot.💭 Send every monster named in the Epstein files, first, I thought. Pretty certain that would make the most popular episode, ever.

Met a “Greensperson” on the studio lot today (we are still building irrigation on the farm). Plants are for the Morning Show with Jennifer Aniston (no photos allowed). The Greensperson is the set plant pro, the career path starts in a production assistant role, doing nothing related to plants. 🌱

It was take your dog to work day on the motion pictures studio farm. 🌱 Marlowe has not been feeling well, but is on antibiotics and getting better, so he got to help with today’s harvest.

Flashing lights and vibrating disco floors, they like the nightlife, they can boogie. 🕺 Bumble bees join birds and mammals, including parrots, songbirds and primates like chimpanzees in the ability to recognize flexible, abstract rhythms at different tempos.🌱🐝

🐝 Young bees attend flight school, daily. When they leave as foragers, they’ve beenmarking the hive’s GPS and making figure 8 flights for 3+ weeks already.⛸️♾️🌱
🐝 Bee # 1 first job after birth is to clean her cell, she’s born knowing this + how, as well as how to dance to communicate to other bees

Corrections 🌱
🐝 Each honey bee makes only 1/8th of a teaspoon, not even close to a teaspoon 🐝 The queen doesn’t leave, she’s starved to lose weight, they don’t “join her” she is pushed out in a swarm.
🐝 They say a male drone, “does nothing to support the hive,” he sustains survival by mating queen.

#NativeBee and #HoneyBee lovers! 🌱🐝 Definitely watch this, it’s fantastic!
So thrilled for Dr. Sammy, I squealed every time he came on, and when the bumble bees were playing, I cried.
Surprised to learn 5? new things in this movie! 🤓💛 (Also, they said some things that were incorrect I caught!) 😂

Movie lot plants! 🌱I can’t take photos of stars, so here are some plants. Can’t tell you what TV show/movie they’re for, but we constantly see plants outside of sets walking to the farm, which incidentally, almost none on the movie lot know exist. 😂

We have been in Summer, since last summer. 🌱
80F and our hottest temps are usually “Fall,” this year we were 95°+😳 in February. Hillsides will be brown, and pollinators starving, sooner than normal. Fire risk will be high all the way thru next “winter,” if we get one. Vote CLIMATE before ALL else.

Happy Birthday to some of our most beautiful immigrants, from S. American tropics nearly 2 million years ago. In the last 50 years many spend winters at S. and N. California coasts.
Hilariously, I have been told I “should be encouraging monarch butterflies to go to Mexico.” Seems apt for today 🌱

Most orchard for us in S. California wants 15-20 minute deep soak once a week max, versus a few minutes daily of every other day - like most veggie/fruit crops.
So this stage of design is truly one of the most important.
Wall gardens need dedicated valves for shade/sun. There’s a LOT to think out.

Designing irrigation before planting a single thing. 👻 “Ghost piping,” for future valves we can’t afford yet (so we don’t have to trench again when we CAN afford them). All different H2O needs get a dedicated valve… tomatoes (because they need a lot of water, then less as they mature), orchard… 🌱

6 monarch butterfly birthdays today. 🦋March is usually “winter,” but I have about 30 more ready to emerge next. Having tropical Mexican milkweed in S. California where monarchs have overwintered over 50 years, is key to supporting monarchs in our climate warmed non-winters. 🌱

Thanks to all who protested, I feel less alone in this GOP wannabe dictatorship bombing schools, completely ignoring horrific Epstein-Trump crimes against children, terrorizing and imprisoning community, speeding climate warming & attempting to steal our privacy & democracy for corporate profits.

Climate warming is more deadly to all, at lower temps than we previously thought. And the GOP climate deniers? They put all of us even more at risk. 🌱It’s hard to read news lately. Any of it. I’m mad and hot.
