Before I transitioned I was a powerlifter. I lost an absurd amount of muscle mass when I started estrogen. Easily cut my deadlift down to 1/4 of what it was. But the training and hard work I put in before and after is the only "advantage" I've ever had as a woman. Sex doesn't matter.

A few have suggested that some aspects of this mission--joy, international teamwork, diversity--are being played up to stick it to the hateful attitude of the administration. But I don't think it's that. I think it's just that those things are essential to and inseparable from a mission like this.

NASA isn't why the US doesn't have universal healthcare, or a social safety net. The US doesn't have those things because politicians with the power to provide them choose specifically not to (with varying levels of support from voters). Enthusiasm for human spaceflight doesn't drive that choice.
