one of my favourite things about japan is how many times waiters would be like "I'm sorry, there's been some kind of awful mistake, this is clearly too much food for one person"

forcing me to reply: "no.. leave it. Leave it all Takumi."

I was constantly hungry in Japan, their food is not filling. I constantly had to ask for multiple bowls of rice 🍚

Hearing how small portions generally are in Japan makes my American ass all the more excited to visit, like, Doutonbori and successfully graze my way down the whole street lmao

I went to Tokyo with some friends a couple summers ago. There were multiple times where we would each order three or more servings of the gyoza meal set, and I would have to assure the hostess that it was not in fact a translation error.

Every time I visit Asia. Like one time I ordered 2 one liter bottles of water and the server asked me twice if I really wanted 2 one liter bottles with my meal and I was like “yeah🤨”

Lived in Japan for 4 years. 1 year in Tokyo, 3 years in Kushiro (city in eastern Hokkaidō). Loved when I went to a small local restaurant enough times that the owner(s) would give me a knowing smile and put just a *little* bit more on my plate. For the American. lol

The Japanese are amazing people.

“No man can handle this much food” says the waiter.
