Man, we have the same conversations every time a major story like this breaks. It’s exhausting. It is SO HARD to publish a story about gendered violence for a whole host of reasons, a main one being that victims (rightly so!) don’t want to talk.
Better than "framing jobs as more masculine," men shd shed the toxic masculinity harming them in every area of life. The reason they won't take the available jobs is also why they fail in school, suffer from loneliness and high suicide rates, and can't find dates, intimacy, or offline friends. 🧵
on a scale of 1 to 100, my support for democracy and protecting everyone's right to vote is 99. but i admit it used to be 100 before reading some of your tweets
I wish the romance community held more space for thoughtful commentary and criticism on genre trends instead of framing it as an attack on readers and authors, because I would love to talk about the renewed popularity of conservative-coded tropes like cowboys, small town rural settings, etc.
On Confederate Surrender Day, I give you the Liberator's take on Jefferson Davis: "We believe Jefferson Davis to be the worst man in all history. He was a repudiator and slaveholder. He has been a secessionist, a traitor and rebel....He has sedulously endeavored to subvert our free institutions."
"sorry I can't come to your once-in-250-years party. I'll be busy doing something it would actually make much more logical sense to do four days later. I bumped it up on purpose so I could throw it in your face. eat shit forever, amen"
there is no hater on earth like a hater from Chicago
This is true, Jim Bowie was a criminal and fraudster of the highest order and his arrogance defying Houston's order to evacuate killed ~185 mother's sons at the Alamo. If Taylor Sheridan portrays him as some kind of rakish hero, it tells us FAR more about the director than it ever could about Bowie.
Supreme Court justices rarely criticize their colleagues in public, when they do, they never single out any one justice. If Sotomayor's willing to just come out and say it like this, they really, really, really, hate his guts.
So if the cops or prosecutors violate someone's rights, I want them to pay for it. I want them to pay for it even if it benefits somebody who is guilty as hell, because enforcing those rights protects everyone from the tyranny of the state.
having given it due consideration, i have decided that "government by the stupidest most hateful morons to ever walk, or really more of sort of ooze gelatinously, on the planet" is a bad form of government and we should try something different
