When my mom was dxโ€™d with a brain tumor at 61 she applied for disability. She battled that tumor for 10 months before dying and never received a single disability check. 40+ years of putting into SS and she got nothing.

My uncle was disabled his entire life. When my parents took over his care they applied for SSDI for him. It took over a year to get it. He lived a couple of years after that.

When he was 6 he ran into a hornet nest. They stung him over and over on the back of his neck and the toxin destroyed his thyroid gland. His case is in all the Endocrinology textbooks. The only case of non-genetic thyroid dysfunction. He should of been on SSDI his whole life.

It takes forever to get on disability. It took me 2 years! A rough 2 years.

That sucks but SS and disability are two different things and it doesnโ€™t mean that SS or disability either are bad programs.
Also, what state was she in? Many blue states have programs that you can gain access to very easily.
What was the reason for her not being able to receive benefitsโ€ฆ???

There was no reason. They just delayed responding to her. She was in Utah.

The point of my comment was to acknowledge there are lots of people this happens to, and some retirees are also delayed their benefits. Itโ€™s a stall tactic to delay payouts.

Social Security and Social Security for Disability are the same thing. I know. I have been getting it for a long time. It's how you get Medicare on Disability. I had to go thru more steps than someone who turns 65 to get it. I had a hearing with a judge to be granted SS and Medicare.๐Ÿ˜Ÿ
