To mark your account as automated, go to Settings → Account → Automation label

For now, bot labels are voluntary, and all existing policies continue to apply. We may introduce additional policies specific to automated accounts in the future.

The people want to open the app where they left off and scroll up in chronological order like Twitter always was, WHY make us start each time at most recent and read events in reverse?

The REAL update we want

Please make it a instant IP and Hardware ban for postbots that aren't marked as such.

Thanks for all of your hard work on this platform - it _is_ appreciated. :)

Please either make it compulsory or block them. This is not what Bluesky is about.
We want real people posting about real events.

Self-Identification is all well and good, but is there included some way for non-self-reported accounts to be reported and marked after some sort of verification action by Bluesky?

How about rolling back inline translate, which spews out absolute nonsense and is completely worthless and makes this place unusable?

I sincerely trust (and hope) that the particularly wonderful, up lifting, enlightening and spectacularly excellent BlueSky will AUTOMATICALLY LABEL BOTS, AS SUCH, in the near FUTURE!

Could you make it so that the bot’s profile links to the creator/manager of the bot? Transparency and accountability is key here.

Yes! Accountability is necessary. I have bots trying to follow me now. Have to keep blocking them. This place is turning into Twitter.

Is the label on automatically? Since it's a bot or an auromated account, it won't flip the label on by itself and if it could, why would it?

Okay, it's not on automatically. I just updated the app. But, my other points still stand.

i have a "bot" that puts out our local weather every hour, i fear a bot labelling would be counter productive for it

Cool, now fix @davidleavitt.bsky.social 's account. He's not a bot, not following a ridiculous amount of people. He got marked for spamming because he posted something that some nut job didn't like & they reported him repeatedly to censor him. Known David for years now, since Twitter.

I sent a note to the moderation list targeting him. I hope it makes them take a second look.

Hmmmm and where do partially automated accounts fall? Tricky bc that will start to blur the line between creators/businesses using occasional automation

I want the label to be involuntary so I can banish them to my own personaal Blocksky.

Please make it mandatory to label bots. They've killed every other Social Media platform and have caused dire impacts on the world at large.

Yeah, its kinda dumb to assume bots will label themselves by those that create them.

It's difficult because Bluesky isn't actually one entity.

Your account is actually hosted on your own little website (called your PDS).

You can make changes to that website directly without involving Bluesky at all. Bluesky just reads from your website to show others.

For now, the bots are asked to reflect privately and label themselves accordingly

Please make bot labels mandatory! I don't want bots, aka data miners, following me.

If it's a bot, it should be mandatory to mark it as such. Bot accounts should then not be counted in the number of views, likes, reposts etc that a post gets. We would then have a more accurate account of how much interaction with a post there has been by actual humans.

não é tão simples de fazer, eles estão trabalhando nisso já tem um tempinho, mas pode ainda levar uns meses até chegar realmente a possibilidade de privar contas ou certos posts

So, in cases where the user does not explicitly state that an account is a bot, how can we tell if the account is a bot?

That's the problem. You often can't.

would also be nice if we could see where people are from, to help discover scammers

Will you be more forgiving of "bot" labeled accounts acting like bots?

We at the @ischool.uw.edu teach a class on social media bots & ethics and have had trouble with getting bans when we have a class of >100 people all creating their first bots at the same time.

Have you considered letting your students and their bots loose on some intranet playground rather than the actual internet, especially when its upwards of a hundred enthusiastic newbies at a time ? Did anybody actually sign off on the ethics of what you're doing ?

This is great and all, but how about including an image in DMs?

“Bot labels” and “automation” are not proactive or declarative enough to be meaningful. Look what’s happening on YouTube with the proliferation of unlabeled synthesized content, often fraudulently representing itself as video created by famous names in science, industry, economics, and the arts.
