Have you considered letting your students and their bots loose on some intranet playground rather than the actual internet, especially when its upwards of a hundred enthusiastic newbies at a time ? Did anybody actually sign off on the ethics of what you're doing ?

We try to follow the bsky terms of service and I've looked for sandbox environments for students. We have instructions for all bot activities on discord (which is private but a pain to set up), and Reddit (where we try making private subreddits but get banned anyway). I'm thinking of adding Mastodon

For Bluesky bots, I tell them not to interact with real accounts and have them answer:

"If people saw those posts and then later discovered that they were posted by a computer program, how do you think their view of the posts would change?"
