We are not required to finish the work, yet we are not free to abandon it.

No; the law and legal outcomes are not deterministic

Without endorsing the point being made, an interesting datapoint is that the founders of If Not Now and Sunrise substantially overlap (I knew many of them in college)

You can just say “that’s a fucking stupid comparison” and move on. it is both the glib answer and the correct answer

The thing that surprises me most about Trump II is that they were administratively competent enough to meaningfully close the border

Yeah this is a much better response to this than pretending it means a draft is imminent

The automatic registration thing is being shared by certain news sites in a deliberately misleading way. Men already had to register for the draft, now it’s just being done automatically

This is a pretty fair article (takes the position that protests have become less frequent bc of Trump repression efforts) but the headline is designed to be rage-click bait

Does anyone remember when the Philadelphia state court system was down for months back in like 2018 or 19?

It’s really cool that we have such a competent and honest government to steward us through the technological singularity

Are we getting rapid medical advancements from ai? Not really, but it will mean anyone can drain all your money from your bank account

scene: jd vance kneeling, barefoot, in snow, dressed only in a tunic, kissing the ring of the pope

JD V.O.: “yep, that’s me. You may be wondering how I got here.”

most of Scorsese’s work avoids this but I really do think wolf of wall street fails at this task. you can say it isn’t intended to glamorize the fraud but it really does. i mean the film ends with the real life criminal Introducing himself as the greatest salesman alive

great example of how racists are impervious to results that break their point. Another one of his videos, he asks an Orthodox Jew for a pound claiming he’s hungry. the guy gives him a pound. this is somehow still proof that Jews are cheap to the racist

Personally I think the creator of this video should be beaten like a dog on the street

No. 4: Hated by All the Right People by Jason Zengerle. It’s not a badly written book, and there’s some interesting inside baseball on how the media works (I didn’t know Tucker gave Maddow her start). But Tucker just isn’t an interesting enough figure to fill a book. There’s less than meets the eye.
