There are some 'legitimate' bot accounts like weather and news aggregators that people value. There are even automated feeds for things like images from the JWST.

True, but those bot accounts are not reposting everyone else's stuff, with no actual interaction. Those types of accounts don't farm followers.

Also true.

I'm just not sure how mandatory labeling could be fairly enforced, and if voluntary labeling would be done by the bad actors at all. 🤷
