The crazy thing is we historically knew how to solve this.

But spending money on building housing and amenities for DIB workers fell out of fashion sometime around McNamara's leaving office.

Some of the issue is location. There is no physical way to get a lot more housing onto the mesa or Livermore without displacing a lot of existing homeowners. And other places suck to live around even if they're cheap. Hence my call for a Rocky Flats II in Southern Colorado.

I suppose I'm less afraid about exercising eminent domain for these purposes.

I'm also a big fan of clawing back federal lands and facilities in the Northeast for a similar reason.

Of course actually getting principals to understand cost and *value* of living is likely a modern B-29 Project.
