Some of the issue is location. There is no physical way to get a lot more housing onto the mesa or Livermore without displacing a lot of existing homeowners. And other places suck to live around even if they're cheap. Hence my call for a Rocky Flats II in Southern Colorado.

I suppose I'm less afraid about exercising eminent domain for these purposes.

I'm also a big fan of clawing back federal lands and facilities in the Northeast for a similar reason.

Of course actually getting principals to understand cost and *value* of living is likely a modern B-29 Project.

Military bases need to adopt new urbanism - on base housing should be 2000 sqft in a 3 story single stair walk up with a px <10 minutes away by foot
