It's not the name of the product, but I call these inflatable bags "wine condoms." After multiple international/cross country trips, never lost a bottle in checked luggage. Most of the most interesting wines never leave the regions they are produced in. Cheeses that are shrink wrapped are legal! 1/

Here's the bags that are flat during travel and then inflatable. Useful to bring back jams/preserves, jars of honey or spices as well if not wine. 2/2

Holy Cow. My random collection of bubble wrap and packaging tape wants to know where these have been all my life.

When I took 5lb of cheese with me, the TSA agent took a careful look and asked if I had just gone to Cosco. No, I told him, I made it. The agent then retorted "my wife would like to meet you!"

Do they deflate after you use them?

Unfortunately all that gorgeous Portuguese charcuterie cannot be brought back to the US legally. Big sigh. so much jamon and its variants.

Every cheese shop I've been to in Italy, Spain, et al, will vacuum-pack for you at no charge

I like the idea, but as I exclusively drink $2 Trader Joe's wine, it might be a bit overkill.

Have occasionally forgotten my wine bags at home (i use them for beer or scotch) so bubblewrap inside socks inside ziplocks has also worked and have only lost one can back in 2019.

Hope everything is tasty

is there a protection layer between the 2 sides of the clam shell opening? As shown it would seem like the bottles would bang against each other.

They shrink wrap them in Paris...and then tell you exactly when to eat them

Back in the day, I had 6 bottles in wine condoms in my checked bag (singular). Not one of them broke ☺️

TSA gets weird about cheese sometimes. We fly out of MKE with gifts for family regularly and our carry-ons almost always get separated and sometimes swabbed. I want to say it might have been the Hook’s 14y cheddar that got swabbed for some reason

I use JetBags when flying with wine/spirits. They are not as padded, but supposedly can absorb 750ml of liquid. Thankfully have never had to test their efficacy. www.thejetbag.com/
