I think what's obscured in the discussion is, people LIKE working when it's not life or death — We enjoy feeling productive and laboring to produce tangible positive outcomes. It's the fact that you're alienated from the fruits of your labor when all of the money you earn goes to rent and food.

The 1%ers who are against UBI claim it'll make people lazy, they'll never want to work again, but I can point at instances where people were paid exactly $0 to do a thing and still did it. You remember trashtag? How many people cleaned up their beaches, just to have a clean beach?
