“Trump promises mass pardon to staff before leaving office.

In a recent meeting, the president said he would pardon those within 200 feet of the Oval Office, say people familiar with the remarks.”

Criminals all. Dems better have a plan to reign in the pardon powers of presidents.

Wow, you don't say.

We all knew this as soon as was reelected, so this is hardly "news".

Trump is going to fully pardon and commute the sentence of Jared Fogle, isn't he?

Yes, but he ALSO enjoys harming others, so he may just skip the pardons and enjoy the show. While screaming about political persecution and weaponizing the DOJ. And that’s IF democrats bother to hold anyone accountable, which is also up in the air.

And why does he think everyone within 200 ft. of the Oval will need a pardon?

Next Congress not controlled by Rs MUST pass laws similar to post-Nixon ones. That set of laws must include changes to pardon power.
-No self-pardon
-No pardoning family or associates associated with the president himself in some entity.
-No FORWARD pardons allowing admin officials to commit crimes!

The implication is that if they quit their jobs before the end of the term, they get nothing and may have to answer for whatever crimes they’ve committed. Only if they stay, and do whatever they’re told - legal or not - will they be pardoned. (And that assumes he’ll keep his word, which is unlikely)

He's likely to die of natural causes before he issues these and they know all know it. He's terrorizing them. Will they get them or not? They don't know, but they have to act on his behalf as if they will now. I hope they choke on the pressure of that.

This seems like an excellent way encourage the White House hosting some of the most exciting murder sprees in history in the minutes just before 12pm EST on 20th January, 2029.

Either he doesn't follow through or he doesn't last his whole term. And JD decides against most of them. Particularly anyone he perceives as a rival.

I'd enjoy that outcome. 😊

Nearly as horrific as the 'Live, Laugh, Oval Office' decor. Should read 'Mafia HQ' of course.

Are vague mass pardons even legal? Another shitty constitutional wording that must be corrected by legislation when Dems are in control. God help us. We better get all 3 branches and fix this shit and soon.

Constitutional wording can only be corrected by the almost impossible process of Constitutional amendment

… because of all the crimes?

And if he drops dead before the pardon? Not convinced Vance would feel obligated…

It’s funny, because he won’t follow through.

A pardon requires an admission of guilt.

What are they all guilty of?

It literally does not, and to argue otherwise is to agree with Dinesh D'Souza that Fauci committed crimes

He says that now. Why would anyone believe him? Why does he think they need pardons?

Pardons won’t help what’s coming for them.
