The mistake we have allowed to happen was to not push back on calling them entitlements. SS and Medicare is part of our paychecks, we contribute to along with our employers, from the time we begin working until we begin collecting. It's not that we are "entitled"... it is our money.

There's NOTHING wrong with calling them entitlements. That is precisely what they are. We are ENTITLED to that money.

I mean, think that through. It is BECAUSE it's your money that you are entitled to it. THAT'S WHAT THE WORD MEANS.

The only mistake was that we let them twist "entitlement" into having a negative connotation. But the fact that we paid into it is exactly what makes it an entitlement. That's the CORRECT term!

We need to push back on the idea that it's wrong to expect that to which we are, yes, damn well entitled.

The point I made is the money paid into SS and Medicare is part of your paycheck. It should never have been termed entitlement to begin with; unless you think your paycheck should be called an entitlement. I'm surprised how upset U are that I dared challenge a term in use I believe to be a misnomer.
