A large enough (active) user base, presumably ? Adding another social media account means added work for them, and I get the impression that some institutions (and politicians) still believe there is more value in trying to counter the disinformation on the hellsite.

I am sure that you are giving thought on how to scale BlueSky to be a real competitor to Twitter globally. It is very frustrating to see people post tweets from "X" on BlueSky because it is the primary source.

Thanks for this insight. I'd also love if there were a way to create an experience entirely of users whose identities are verified, and I'd love to talk to the team more about how to accomplish this. I think it would be unique in a social media space increasingly filled with bot slop.

Welcome. Just read your post…here’s an idea on how to make money…charge a subscription instead of selling ads. I am a tech CEO myself and I pay for all sorts of subscriptions for things I see value in, and I would pay for this. But I will never ever click on an ad, nor do I want to see them.

There isn’t a lot of direct commerce that happens on social interest graphs. Maybe the most on FB / Insta and afaik they still generate most of their revenue from ads

And a lot of ppl are quick to make a blanket association between ads and corp greed / lack of ethics…
