Ponies on Peacock sucks so bad; nostalgic anti-communist stuff from an MFA screenwriter claptrap; George Plympton would've rejected it in a heartbeat at Paris Review

Matt Christman's assessment of Brown--especially in the back half of this--was accurate of 2020 but I am starting to think we're getting closer to the world that could produce one

The patriotic appeal angle mostly is reflective of NextGen and "high brow" press praise ahead of launch--a focus on an American company taking on Sony, Sega, and Nintendo--and my experience in retail; was definitely the middle-aged guy console

this falls on the sweetspot of your pay schedule allowing you to go all out; too early or too late and you're in debtland; avoid Geminis, cancers, and leos unless you have a trustfund

Xbox's collapse is kind of funny if one remembers that the original's success was almost entirely built on Patriotic appeal and Halo; they did interesting stuff in Japan--throwing cash at a bunch of developers, resulting in Steel Battalion, Otogi, and Metal Wolf Chaos--but

Enemy encounter system: battle starts within the terrain, though Sea lacks the strategic element. It's okay but doesn't really do anything. I am not sure how to articulate it yet, but indie games seem to be the new graveyard of MFA Sara Lawrence types, which I guess is fine

9. Musashi Jr. (NES)
10. Ganbare Gaiden (NES)

1. Mother 3 (GBA, stuck w/us all summer)
2. Popolocrois (PSX)
3. Far East of Eden Ziria (TGCD)
4. Popolocrois 2 (PSX, #2 but savestate fried)
5. Far East of Eden: Oriental Blue (GBA)

That dude running in Maine fulfills American liberal romanticism--good clear headed blue guy from the hinterlands--and also confirms the only remotely holy ground in America is New England, the only place to go through their own Cultural Revolution

My son loves Andy Capp Hot Fries and he kept pressing about the comic "it isn't funny, Andy just drinks beer and smokes and sometimes Mrs. Capp hits him on the head" and he thought it was the funniest thing he ever heard.
