I would have swerved to save the butterflies, but I didn't expect their dance to veer so quickly toward me. Now I will be haunted by the suffering and deaths of these beautiful little creatures forever.

I've never killed a butterfly in my entire life. Not before today. Now, I've killed two of them. I was afraid this would happen. My flat box truck windshield is a graveyard of dead innocent insects. The design is careless. Most insects float safely over my very slanted Chrysler LeBaron windshield.

I saw two orange-red butterflies doing a lovely mating dance today...
...right before I slammed into them with my Isuzu box truck's flat windshield at 45 mph and exploded both of their abdomens.
They weren't killed instantly. They lived at least a few minutes longer. In horrific, confused agony.☹️

I heard on the radio tonight that Mount Hood has gotten 25%(!!!) of its normal amount of snow for the winter season. This is our drinking water here in Portland, OR. Ignoring sustainability isn't sustainable.
