Like just think about it for a moment. If the natural parent is a mess, whose fault is that generally? That shit doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Sometimes I will see extremely good parents who end up with this hot mess child, but good parents still will not file guardianship petitions.

I try not to speak in absolutes like this. I keep thinking maybe there will be a case out there where good grandparents just have to go this route

I’ve yet to see it. And the grandparents ALWAYS win in these cases. Because family law/guardianship/dependency judges always suck. Always.
