As an autistic person who struggled immensely with exams in college and university I can second this. Excluding capable people from having a degree is not a good look.

I think one of the things I hate about generative AI more than anything else is the fact that it makes our lives measurably worse with every thing they try to shove it into and yet we're all just made to deal with it because it might someday make people money.

It also introduces a wealth of issues regarding safeguarding and fairness in how assessment is conducted. These ended undergrad vivas with external examiners, which were an integral part of assessment in my discipline (Earth Sciences) until about 15 years ago.

In one of my vivas the examiner told me I got all the answers right, but I came in like I had just come out of a rugby scrum and he was deducting points for that.
