In one of my vivas the examiner told me I got all the answers right, but I came in like I had just come out of a rugby scrum and he was deducting points for that.

At a former institute they introduced paired vivas to try and prevent any (overt) bias; one external examiner with one faculty member. One pair each had a glass eye. The students they saw all complained of being put off when confronted by four eyes all pointing in different directions.
