Elder millennial in Syracuse, NY. 2x Florida State alum. Lapsed podcaster who loves: Nintendo, Theme Parks, College Football and Cooking

Just learned that @forecastwatch.bsky.social's ForecastAdvisor.com has been majorly nerfed. They now only show the Top 3 forecasters for a region, not the full list. And they don't say how accurate the Top 3 are.

What a major disappointment. This site was so useful, and now it's very much less so.

For comparison: the state with the highest average living wage is Massachusetts at $54.25/hr or $112,840/yr.

Reference for both: www.newsweek.com/the-average-living-wage-across-50-us-states-full-list-11580043

The state with the lowest living wage is Mississippi. For a two-parent, two-child household, that wage is calculated at $25.35/hr. Assuming a 40hr work week, that's an annual income of $52,728.

$50k a year is not "good money" and hasn't been for a long time.

The film, "October Sky," which I think I watched on a TV like this at least three different times, in different classes, over my school years.

A hallway on Floor 11 in Luigi's Mansion 3 references both The Shining and Twin Peaks with its carpet and floor patterns, respectively.

My assumption is tonight he’ll announce a “breakthrough in talks,” and nothing will happen.

Although in reality, nothing at all will have happened.

We are the prisoner of a man who’s lost what very little sanity he had left.

I could be wrong.

Seriously, playing with the single joy-con mode really does add so much to the experience. You can keep the Switch hooked up to your TV or throw it down in tabletop mode. Either way, playing in single joy-con (vertical) mode really does make it feel more like that vintage channel-surfing experience.

Yo. Buy @blippo.plus. It's crazy cool and fun. It's more so an interactive video art piece than it is a proper "game" and it's one of the most fun and inventive things I've seen in a very long time.

ProTip: Play it in single joy-con mode, which lets you use it as it if was the TV's remote control.

I’m going to be 79 when the real date (4/5/2063) hits… if we all survive until then. It’s gonna be lit out in Bozeman.

Brown University is home to George Orwell's original manuscript of 1984. Most of it is marked up heavily in Orwell's hand-writing but this untouched page caught my eye.

On a related note: one of my favorite things about Star Wars is that it imagines a world with faster-than-light travel and freakin' laser swords, but no email!

If you work on the Death Star and want to send a message to another dept, you have to put it on a little droid that scoots over to them.

The new most terrifying thing about space travel is simply that, even when outside the Earth, you cannot escape your inbox.

BlueSky still don't have native polls, so I guess just answer below. How do you pronounce "Jaleco"?

A) Juh-lay-co
B) Jal-uh-co (like calico)

I had one of these DKC Competition Carts as a kid. IIRC they were from Blockbuster’s world game championship. Mine was purchased from the Nintendo Power catalog, and it came with a special case. Others were sold at Blockbusters. I sold mine for like $700 in college (2005ish). I often regret that.

Separate the art from the artist by boiling the latter and pouring them into a separator with a strainer and filter to capture the solids. As they cool, the less dense art naturally floats to the top and congeals leaving art-free stock trapped beneath a layer of art.

I spent some time playing Mega Man Battle Network 3 (GBA) on this device last night. Then I remembered, I reviewed this game back in the day… 23 freakin’ years ago. I feel so very old.

Trying to fine-tune your aim with your thumb via an analog stick is incredibly difficult. Small adjustments are very hard to input. It's way too easy to overshoot your intended movements.

Gyro aiming (just like with a mouse) moves this task from your thumb to your wrist, which is much better at it.

If you've ever complained that using dual-analog controller is just nowhere near as precise or good as keyboard+mouse in shooters, I implore you to try motion-control aiming on a controller.

I submit that it is actually BETTER than keyboard+mouse controls.

I picked Fortnite back up again, after not playing it since it launched for Switch 1 back in the day.

I'm playing on PS5 now, and the addition of motion-control aiming to other platforms has totally changed the game for me. I'm drastically better at aiming this way vs. traditional dual-analog.
