Iโ€™m shocked about Eric Swalwell, very upset.

He needs to drop out of the CA Gov race immediately regardless of what *might* not have happened.

He probably should resign from Congress too. We believe women around here. We canโ€™t have this.

Yes and honestly we donโ€™t need another white male running the state. We need diversity and someone who will continue allowing people with out paperwork to live freely.

Iโ€™m all for it being not a white man! ๐Ÿ’ฏ But nothing is more important to this specific race than keeping a Republican from winning. I will be getting behind the top Democrat in the race (w the hope that Swalwell has dropped out) even if itโ€™s unfortunately a white man.

I am floored. I don't live in CA but they cannot let a repub take charge so I'm hoping there is a good dem candidate for the primary who can rise above all this and keep CA blue. California is in serious danger.

Xavier Becerra until otherwise proven. Wish there was a better woman candidate than Katie Porter.

He has been my choice from the beginning but now that we are so close to the primary and must get at least one Dem in top 2, I donโ€™t have an opinion other than that.

And he should endorse Xavier Becerra when he drops out.

I am so disappointed and mad at him.

He shouldnโ€™t endorse anyone. Or rather, his endorsement would hurt the candidate he endorses donโ€™t you think?

Do we get to verify that the accusations come from real people at least?

You can seek verification anywhere you want.

Certainly I hope verification comes from proper investigation.

But unfortunately the damage is done as far as the CA Gov race (which is extremely important to me) and we were already at risk to losing the jungle primary to two republicans, locking

Read the CNN article.

CNN's article shows that they fact checked the stories of the 4 women who they spoke to, corroborated by other witnesses, screen shots, etc.

One of the women provided CNN a message from Swalwell that he'd sent to her before doing an on air interview on CNN (!) and he was wearing the same clothes.

Al Franken had to resign from the Senate for infinitely less than this. Bye, Eric. You fooled a lot of people, including me.

I'm very upset. As a survivor, like so many of us, I am traumatized. But I'm not the least bit shocked.

Now that it's 4 women I suspect there will soon be more. He needs to drop out and "focus on family" or whatever bullshit excuse he wants to make.

Survivor here. Iโ€™ve been triggered since the Access Hollywood tape. Then his election. Then Kavanaugh which really undid me. Finally, I could rest for 4 years with Biden-Harris. Then 2024. Now THIS. One of our own. Iโ€™m sitting outside trying to connect with the stars but GAWDDAMMIT.

Iโ€™m a survivor too. So Iโ€™m going thru revolving rage, fear (of a Republican Governor), sadness & disappointment, & a very tiny bit of side-eye (the timing is extra weird but I believe the women right now).

Ha! I told my husband.. I have such good spidey sense about slimy politicians. I remember when my entire Democratic Club was in love with Edwardโ€™s. They all voted for him early and I loved rubbing it in their faces! Swalwell has always seemed exactly who he has turned out to be. Luckily,itโ€™s early

Not to be ignorant but is this true? Is their evidence?

Every key type of thing I look for in situations like this is there. Multiple victims. Actual texts. Corroboration from telling friends/loved ones when it happened. Documented concurrent medical treatment.

There is a lot of evidence. Enough for me to call for him to drop out FIRST bc the news is too damaging and we cannot fuck up the gov race and 2nd because I err on the side of believing women and 3rd bc there is a lot to back up the allegations. And many women coming forward.

Agreed. Democrats handle our business. Swalwell has to go.

I'm hearing more and more accounts that this was an open secret among the political class in DC. We need to have a reckoning about the Old Boys Cloakroom culture running around inside the beltway.

I didnโ€™t *want* to believe it, but I wonโ€™t deny the women and their reports of their experiences. So angry right now, for them, at him, for all of us voters.

Iโ€™m so angry. Iโ€™m so sad.
And Iโ€™m so worried we are going to end up w a Republican governor here.

This is so upsetting. And the sight of Roger Stone gleefully rubbing his hands together ... that's just galling.

Oh of course he is. Goddamnit itโ€™s all so dirty. Either heโ€™s a sexual assaulter which is hideous and reprehensible or this is a hit-job for GOP to steal CA which is hideous and reprehensible.

We might want to hold up until we disentangle Roger Stone's role in this. If it still holds, then it comes down to Porter and Steyer.

Even if Roger orchestrated it the damage is done. He needs to step out. Let attention shift to the next leading Dems. Iโ€™d recommend reading the allegations. There is a lot of evidence. People on record. Text messages. Hospital records.

Yeah let's take allegations as the marker to destroy a career and not see these as suspect co sideline all the talk of two teabaggers topping the jungle primary. What a fool.

We canโ€™t lose the CA governors race to a Republican. Thereโ€™s no time for the legal process to play out before the primary.

Iโ€™ve seen and heard men lose their lives over accusations. I donโ€™t believe, but I will take it seriously. If heโ€™s not serious about clearing his name and Iโ€™m willing to wait for an investigation, yes he should step down. Quit dicking around @ericswalwell.bsky.social
